ASSESSMENT OF HIV/AIDS AND HIV/AIDS CO-INFECTION AND POSSIBLE WAYS OF ERADICATING THEM FROM AFRICA

Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS) is a complicated and hugely important world issue. The epidemic was first identified in early 1980’s in the United States of America. However, Africa is the continent worst affected by AIDS and it is believed that about 25million Africans are HIV positive. Therefore, urgent attention is needed to eradicate HIV from Africa so as to have an HIV free generation. This paper analyses HIV/AIDS, causes and keys to eradicating HIV/AIDS from Africa. It was therefore recommended that Christian religious bodies should continually inculcate morals and the fear of God into youths and the married couples so as to avoid sinful living and heterosexual behaviour and that rapid diagnostic test should be developed to detect drug susceptible and drug resistant to TB in HIV positive patients.
