For teaching and learning in school to be interesting, effective and rewarding, the environment needs to be conducive. One of the problems militating against effective teaching and learning in schools at all levels of education is an unhealthy school environment which has been the bane of our schools. This paper centres on creating and sustaining a healthy school environment for effective teaching and learning. It examined the concept of school environment, teaching and learning with a focus on primary education which is the foundation and most important level in the pyramid of education.

The contributions of library services to teachers/lecturers resourcefulness and students’ effective learning and development cannot be overemphasized. However, due to population explosions in schools including many tertiary institutions, human congestions, inadequate sitting facilities, uncomfortable stuffy atmospheric condition due to inadequate air conditioner facilities as well as insufficient availability of relevant contemporary study materials for usage characterize many libraries.

All over the world, education is recognized as a veritable tool for individual and national development. The realization of this, perhaps, led to the early introduction of formal education. Consequently, various sums of money are earmarked annually for the provision of educational services to the people by the government. The Federal Government’s capital and recurrent expenditure on education has being on the increase over the years. For instance, it rose from 26,721.3 million naira in 1998 to 31,563.8 million naira in 1999 and in 2005,it increased to 120,035.5 million naira.

“Audit” is a word which generally sends shivers down the spine of even the most hardened chief executive. Most audits that we know today cover mainly financial affairs and physical security matters giving rise to financial audits and physical security audits respectively. These audits are often conducted by financial auditors. Information security audits on the other hand is concerned with the confidentiality, availability and integrity of an organization’s computer information network.

Drought and desertification are natural hazards that affect man and his activities and if prolongeed may lead to disasters. Unlike other natural hazards, these two twin hazards (drought and desertification) creep in unnoticed and before one realizes their presence, a lot of damages have been done. Northern Nigeria, especially the part bordering the southern Sahara desert is proned to drought (and desertification). Sometimes, their occurrences are severe and bring untold hardship to the inhabitants like the 1978 – 1982 droughts.

This paper assessed the pattern of teacher’s interactions in the teaching and learning process. It discussed the interactions involving teacher – student and teacher – teacher based on the related literature. It was discovered that the pattern of teacher- student interaction in the classroom was mostly talking and that teacher did most of the talking at both secondary and tertiary levels.

Various factors affect discipline in primary schools. In this article an attempt was made to identify these factors, how they contribute to disciplinary problems, overcoming these problems, and the way forward. The paper looked at such factors as the home, society, school (school leadership style, attitudes of teachers) government policy, lack of facilities/equipment and so on.

Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS) is a complicated and hugely important world issue. The epidemic was first identified in early 1980’s in the United States of America. However, Africa is the continent worst affected by AIDS and it is believed that about 25million Africans are HIV positive. Therefore, urgent attention is needed to eradicate HIV from Africa so as to have an HIV free generation. This paper analyses HIV/AIDS, causes and keys to eradicating HIV/AIDS from Africa.

Information and communications Technology (ICT) has become a tool in today’s knowledge-driven economy globalization and development in many nations. Various forms of ICTs are applied in several sectors including education to enhance productivity and skills development. This paper focuses on determining the e-readiness of secondary school teachers in Nigeria by exploring the level of diffusion, extent of availability of necessary ICT infrastructures in secondary schools, and the level of their usage by teachers.

Poverty is a disease that can kill an individual before his time; a man living in poverty may find it difficult to think well not to talk of living a successful life. One of the important means of ameliorating poverty is Information and Communication Technology (ICT), since with ICT skill and equipment one can be economically sound even when unable to secure paid employment. This paper will therefore examine the concept of poverty, causes and effect of poverty, meaning of ICT and the means of alleviating poverty through ICT.
